Disappearing Bust of Voltaire
(1941)
Oil on canvas
18 1/4 x 21 3/4 inches

Dali painted this work nearly a year after it's companion piece Slave Market with Disappearing Bust of Voltaire, and it shows a detailed look at the area of that painting that actually creates the double image of either the two traders or Voltaire's bust. Look closely at the 2nd and 3rd figures from the left, and note how their entire torso's are morphed into the bust of Voltaire.
